Pragmatic Faith

My message in a bottle

Honest thoughts about faith, meaning, and humanity — mine, offered freely. These are opinions, not answers: held with conviction, and open to a better one.

I write them as clearly as I can, leave them where anyone might find them, and let them go — not counting who reads, nothing asked in return. Hoping only that one reaches someone asking the same questions, who figured they were the only one.

Read what helps. Leave the rest.

Pragmatic Faith is for anyone who'd rather ask than be told not to — whether you're deep in a tradition, on your way out of one, or just curious whether the questions have honest answers.

Each essay starts from ordinary human experience before it goes near a text. It quotes that text in full and in context, and it takes on the strongest version of the other side, not the easiest one. What you'll find is one person's reasoning, laid out so you can check it.

These essays are written with the help of AI — to organize drafts, research context, catch errors, and test each argument against its strongest objection before it's published. The thinking and the judgment are mine. Every verse and factual claim is checked against a real source by hand, because AI is a tool here, not the author — and never the fact-checker.

There are no comments. If an essay is worth arguing with, argue with it wherever you share it — that's where the conversation belongs.

Colophon

Pragmatic Faith is a plain static site — pages built ahead of time and served as they are, with no scripts running in your browser, no database, and no accounts.

Every verse quoted here comes from public-domain translations: the World English Bible and the King James Version. That's deliberate — no publisher's permission is needed to quote them, and nothing here sits behind someone else's license.

The essays are published under CC BY 4.0 (opens in a new tab). Copy them, quote them, translate them, adapt them, even sell them — just credit Pragmatic Faith, link to the license, and note anything you changed.

Nothing here tracks you. The Privacy page has the specifics.
